Protesting students of Universityof Arid Agriculture Rawalpindi  baton charged

RAWALPINDI (PPI): Students of University of Arid Agriculture and Rawalpindi (UAAR) Monday were baton charged by the local police as they were protesting over the killing of their colleague, Shehzad who was gunned down last week. Scores of UAAR students assembled here at University premises to offer absentia funeral prayer of deceased student. On this occasion, they chanted slogans while heavy police contingent had already been deployed in the University and also on the Murree (Benazir Bhutto Shaheed) road to avert any unwanted situation. University administration did not allow students to enter the university for offering absentia funeral prayer. Earlier, Student Action Committee (SAC) of UAAR had announced to block main Murree road after the funeral prayer. Tahir, a university students talking to PPI said that police and varsity security guards manhandled the students while many students received injuries during resistance. He said that police instead of arresting killers was beating the students who were only demanding arrest of the Shehzad's killers. A student on the appeal of anonymity accused the university administration for keeping students under its custody in order to stop them from staging protest demonstration. He said "varsity administration was behaving like Punjab police who brutally maltreated the students the other day". The students of UAAR said that Rawlpindi police has failed to arrest the unknown killers of Shehzad a student of BA (hons), who was killed on Friday night. Students and family members of the deceased urged the high ups of the government to take immediate steps for the arrest of killers and warned to continue protest if the culprits are not apprehended soon.
