Army Medical College Convocation ceremony of 27th MBBS and 6th BDS course held held

Rawalpindi: Humanity has progressed to unparalleled heights in every field but the menace of disease has followed us like a shadow. Provision of adequate health facilities is a big challenge not only for the resource- constrained country like ours but also for the developed world. The health policy of the government provides and overall national vision for health sector based on 'Health for All' approach.

According to an ISPR press release, these remarks were made by Federal Minister of Health Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani, who was chief guest during the 26th convocation ceremony of 27th MBBS and 6th BDS course held at Army Medical College (AMC), Rawalpindi, Tuesday.

While extending his cordial felicitations to the graduating students of 27th MBBS and 6th BDS courses, Aijaz Hussain Jakhrani said that, he is confident that with the professional knowledge and training acquired, these young doctors will be able to contribute in a big way towards the national efforts to alleviate the sufferings of ailing humanity. The commendable results achieved speak high of the dedication and hard work of the graduating students and excellent teaching by the faculty.

The chief guest said that the pace of technological and scientific growth in the field of medicine is tremendous. Miraculous developments in the fields of biotechnology, genetic engineering, pharmaceutical sciences and nanotechnology are transforming health care in a revolutionary manner. Telemedicine has opened new vistas of patient care by making state of the art medical support available to the remote areas of the world. These developments are not only exciting but also demanding, he added While giving annual report, Major General Tasswar Hussain, Principal, Army Medical College, said that the remarkable performance of the two graduating courses and the excellent results of the medal winners speak of high standards at Army Medical College.

He said that the college is already running postgraduate programmes in medical sciences including fellowship, M Phil and Ph.D courses. A Centre for Research in Experimental and Applied Medicine (CREAM) has been established at the college to integrate and facilitate research activities in various basic and clinical disciplines.

Later, the chief guest awarded degrees and medals to the graduating students who achieved distinction in various fields. In the 27th MBBS course, President's Gold Medal for the best all round student, Rector's Gold Medal for the best student in academics and Army Medical College gold medal for standing first in final professional MBBS examination 2007 and COAS Gold Medal for being best in military subjects were awarded to Ayesha Anwar.
