Teachers  Leaves without sanction be discouraged

LAHORE:SECRETARY Higher Education Ahad Khan Cheema said that powers to initiate disciplinary action against officials up to BS-16 of the department would be delegated to Divisional Directors (Colleges).

In a meeting of Divisional Directors (Colleges), he said tuition by teachers of government colleges during college hours had significantly reduced as the tuition centres and academies were being constantly watched by authorities.

The meeting was attended by Additional Secretary (Estb) Ehsan Bhutta, Manager MIS Waqas Ali, Deputy Secretary Mahmood ul Hassan and Deputy Secretary Mukhtar Hussain and Directors of Education (Colleges) from all divisions of the province.

He said it’s encouraging that teachers have stopped joining academies during duty hours. However, the campaign in this aspect needed to be continued to combat this social menace effectively.

He directed the divisional directors to make more efforts to curb this menace and submit reports of their inspection/visits of private academies and tuitions centres regularly.

He also directed them to ensure that practicals were being carried out in college labs.

He said public money had been spent on these labs and it was our prime responsibility to make sure that students were benefiting from them appropriately.

Secretary Higher Education asked them availing leaves by teachers without sanction be discouraged and strict action under rules be initiated/recommended to discipline delinquents. He added the department would initiate a summary to chief minister for allowance for administrating posting through Finance Department. The news
