Yong Doctors Association concerned over future of students in entry test
LAHORE - Executive Committee of Yong Doctors Association (YDA) has shown serious concern on future of the 37,000 pre medical FSc students across the Punjab who have recently appeared in the entry test for admission into medical & dental colleges in Punjab.
Young doctors clarified to the students that the Punjab govt was not interested in resolving genuine problems of the doctors’ community and they were the most under paid professionals in the province, hence the students should not have very high hopes regarding their future in the country.
The meeting of Executive committee of YDA was held under the chairmanship of Dr Rana Sohail and was attended by Dr Salman Kazmi, Dr Siddique, Dr Khalid Idress, Dr Aslam Rao, Dr Qasim, Dr Usra Sadaqat, Dr Eraj Mehreen, Dr Talha Sherwani and others on Monday.
They said that Pakistani doctors were getting salaries less than that of India, Thailand, Neepal and other neighbouring countries. In India a resident doctors / Medical Officer is getting 50,000 Indian rupees ie 75,000 Pakistani rupees and free residence is also being offered to him. Indian doctors are working from 8:00am to 5:00pm and there is a ban on their private practice. In Pakistan a resident doctor/ medical officer is getting 18,000 to 22,000 and has to work for 36 to 48 hours at stretch and there is a ban on private practice too.
YDA office-bearers further added that there was no regular service structure for doctors as well in Punjab and govt was not paying any heed to their just demands.
If the Chief Minister Punjab continues to ignore the best brains of the country the remaining qualified doctors will also leave the country.Nation
