SIUT awards certificates to 133 student volunteers
Karachi:July 07:The Resource Generation and Outreach Department (RGO) of Sindh Institute of Urology and Transplantation (SIUT) organised certificate award ceremony for the 33rd batch of student volunteer programme on Saturday.
Speaking at the event, Prof Adeebul Hasan Rizvi said that proper training of volunteers was meant to ensure bright future of Pakistan. “During the training, these students are taught the core principles of community service. At this phase of life if they learn to understand the problems, plight and ailments of others, they will definitely make sincere efforts to bring a positive change in society,” he added.
I am proud of these students and appeal to the society to encourage the philanthropic work done by them,” said Prof Rizvi.
Dr Anwar Naqvi highlighted the importance and the impact generated by the programme, saying: “A healthy society is conducive and imperative for the success and progress of a nation”. He said that the volunteers were educated about various medical departments by the doctors concerned and were also given patient care and first aid training.

The students were advised to conform to the guidelines set out for patient medical care and were informed about the facilities offered by SIUT OPDS, radiology, clinical laboratory, dialysis, transplantation, lithotripsy and other medical/ surgical services. About 133 students from various schools participated in this batch and to date a total of 3,790 students have been trained.

Chairperson RGO Kishwer Zehra said that these children would be the leaders of the future from whom Abdul Sattar Edhis and Adeeb Rizvis would rise. “Human behaviour is a true reflection of a society’s virtues and vices. Community service not only refines a person but also provides solace and peace in life. Although voluntary work, love and empathy are God gifted, training polishes the entire personality,” she added.

Kishwer Zehra informed that during the training the volunteer students, while tending to the medical care and needs of the patients, became so involved with them that the patients forgot about their worries - a fact that should be highly encouraged. She mentioned that some students devoted more than 2,000 hours in community volunteer services.
The ceremony was attended by a large number of parents, teachers and students. The student volunteers told the gathering that this program made them learn how to help others. At the end of the programme, renowned composer Javed Mir and Zainab Imran presented SIUT’s song “Aao Milkar Baantain Dukh۔The news.
