Kids urged to capitalise school closure for studies
ISLAMABAD:2 December:Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mahmood on Tuesday advised students, who are studying remotely, to utilise their time wisely instead of treating the closure of educational institutions as a holiday.

In a statement on Tuesday, he said that the decision taken by the government to close schools and colleges across the country was taken with a heavy heart.

“We had to close educational institutions because novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infections were rising quickly,” he added.

Late last month, the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC) had announced that in wake of the second wave of Covid-19 and an exponential rise in the number of cases, educational institutions across the country will remain closed in the country until January 10, 2021.

However, classes will continue online until the winter vacations which commence on December 24. Moreover, some students - who meet strict criteria - will be allowed to visit their respective school once a week to submit and receive homework.

Mahmood advised that students revise their courses, complete their homework and continue their studies as planned. The Express Tribune, December 2nd, 2020.
