CMC Exam put Off After Rumpus
Larkana, May 22: The exam of forensic medicine for third year MBBS students studying in the Chandka Medical College (CMC), Larkana, could not be held when a rumpus erupted between students and the invigilator.
Most of the students of MBBS third year, 39 in total, refused to take the exam under the supervision of Dr Agha Jawed, a demonstrator in the Bibi Aseefa Dental College, Larkana, on grounds that he was allegedly misbehaving with them. He had been nominated on Friday as a member of the vigilance committee.
Situation at the campus grew tense when a few students had a heated argument with Dr Jawed in the administration block. The unruly students later dismantled the main gate of the principal’s office while raising slogans against Dr Jawed. They refused to sit the exam being conducted in the auditorium.
The CMC vice principal, Prof Sher Muhammed Shaikh, and human resources director Dr Akbar Bhutto tried to pacify the students but in vain. Meanwhile, Dr Jawed slipped away from the scene to escape the students’ wrath.
The exam would now be held on June 4, said controller examinations at the Shaheed Benazir Bhutto Medical University (SBBMU).
However, the same exam was held on schedule in the Ghulam Mohammad Mahar Medical College, the second affiliate of the SBBMU.
The name of Dr Jawed was removed from the vigilance committee, said CMC vice principal Prof Shaikh.Dawn.
