Govt College of Technology Event for Outgoing Students
 Lahore:July 05:THE architecture department of Government College of Technology, Railway Road, organized held an event for outgoing students of session 2010-2013 at the college promises on Thursday.
The session of architecture department was of immense importance being the first co-education batch completing its tenure of studies at college.
It is the first-ever public sector institution in Pakistan to offer co-education at higher secondary level. After intervention by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) in GCT, this was the first batch comprising 21 female and 77 male students to pass out.
Since start of the project in 2008, JICA has cooperated with the GCT by revising curricula for architecture and mechanical technologies, refurbishing the existing laboratories with state-of -the-art technologies, erection of new building for architecture department, teachers training in Japan, career counseling for students, induction of female teachers in teaching staff of the college and last but not least, inclusion of female students in architecture technology.


On the occasion, students performed skits while Dr. Iqbal Qureshi, a human resource management expert, gave useful advice to the students on interview/job placement.


Mr. Mitsuyoshi Kuwasaki, Chief Representative of JICA; Mr. Parvez Iqbal, Dr. Yousuf Awan, Chairman Department of Architecture, UMT Lahore and Dr. Iqbal Qureshi spoke on the occasion.
