Karachi Crescent School Headmaster Gunned down
Karachi:August 24: Sixty-year-old Abdul Mateen Khan, the headmaster of the Crescent School located in Aligarh Bazaar, was returning home from work in the morning when two men riding a motorcycle opened fire on him. The assailants were wearing helmets to conceal their identities.
Orangi Town SHO Ghulam Nabi Afridi said Mateen was rushed to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. “Mateen was suffered two bullet wound, one to the head and the other to the chest,” The police officer said. “The attackers used 9mm pistol.”
Mateen was a resident of Frontier Colony, Peerabad. He was teaching at the school for over 20 years.
Police sleuths told The News that they spoke with the principal of the school. The principal told them that Mateen had not received threats from any group.


The victim’s family told the police that a few months ago Mateen had a dispute with the in-laws of his daughter. She had recently divorced her husband, whose family was now sending threats to Mateen.


The police recorded the statements of the witnesses and Mateen’s family and further investigation was under way.


Taliban activists killed


Two men, believed to be Taliban activists, were murdered on Thursday night behind the Malik Agha Hotel in Sohrab Goth.


Sub-Divisional Police Officer Khalid Khan said Khursheedullah Mehsud and Hafeezullah Meshud, both 18 years old, were found with several gunshot wounds. They later died at the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital


The police officer said they were attacked using 9mm pistols.


The two young men were residents of Janghal Goth in Sohrab Goth and had arrived in the city from South Waziristan.


Police investigators believe the two men were affiliated with the banned Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan, but their families denied the claim.


‘Drug peddler’ shot dead


An alleged drug peddler was shot dead in Press Quarters, PIB Colony in the afternoon.


New Town Sub-Divisional Police Officer Nasir Lodhi said 27-year-old Ghulam Sabir alias Pappu Pathan was attacked by two men. Sabir was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, where he was pronounced dead.


The police officer said Sabir was shot six times with a 9mm pistol.


“Sabir was a drug peddler and wanted by PIB Colony police in more than 10 cases. He was also wanted by Sharea Faisal police.”


Three bodies found


Three men were found dead stuffed in gunny bags on Northern Bypass in Moachko in the morning.


Moachko SHO Haji Liaquat said the bodies were shifted to the Civil Hospital Karachi and a message about them aired on the police control system.


A few hours later, a family approached the police and identified one of the men as 32-year-old Abdul Razzaq Baloch, a resident of Saeedabad. The family told the police that Razzaq, a labourer, was with his friends on Friday night when some men in a car had kidnapped him and his two friends. The SHO said there were torture marks and multiple bullet wounds on the bodies.The news.
