MoU inked to develop academic interaction between UoP, Seminaries
Peshawar : September 25: The University of Peshawar (UoP) and the Islamabad-based organisation, Peace and Education Foundation (PEF) on Tuesday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop academic interaction between the university and the graduates and teachers of the seminaries (madaris).
The interaction will be based on a 20-day rigorous evening course of three credit hours a day covering themes such as self-awareness about the status of teaching and teachers, classroom management, lesson planning, learning and development, conflict resolution, human rights, pluralism, logical and critical thinking and debate on madrassa curriculum.
The MoU, which will remain effective for one year, was signed by Vice-Chancellor UoP Dr Muhammad Rasul Jan and President PEF Azhar Hussain. Dean Faculty of Islamic and Oriental Studies Dr Qibla Ayaz, Director Institute of Islamic and Arabic Studies Dr Mirajul Islam Zia and Executive Director PEF Rashad Bukhari were also present on the occasion.
The UoP is looking for collaboration with organisations working in the field to promote its motive of creation, dissemination and application of knowledge, said Vice Chancellor Dr Rasul Jan while talking to the delegation.He said the UoP would welcome venture initiated by the partner organisations aimed at capacity-building of the students and faculty members.
