Punjab Teachers Alliance Protest
Lahore : September 27: THE Punjab Teachers Alliance (PTA), strongly criticising the proposed District Authorities for Education, has announced to launch a protest movement against the same starting with a sit-in and a rally from October 3.
Addressing a press conference at the Lahore Press Club on Thursday, the PTA leaders, including Allah Bakhsh Qaiser, Rana Atta Muhammad and others, termed the establishment of District Education Authority a conspiracy against the province’s education system with an alleged aim to increase the interference of elected representatives and bureaucrats. The PTA office-bearers further alleged that the proposed authority was also an effort to further the agenda of privatising the education sector.
They said the PTA was a unanimous platform of all teachers associations of the province to oppose the proposed move. Giving details of the protest, they said a sit-in would be followed by a protest march to the Punjab Assembly on October 3.The news.
