Need for Modern Training of Young Doctors stressed PMGI
LAHORE: Doctors on Tuesday stressed the need for training of young doctors on modern lines and advanced research.
Addressing the medical students at PGMI on Tuesday, Principal Post Graduate Medical Institute (PGMI) Ameer ud Din Prof Anjum Habib Vohra said that efforts to create a healthy society could not be successful without training of young doctors on modern lines.
“Our doctors will have to follow Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif’s health vision to control diseases and epidemics by adopting research and specialisation methods,” he added.
The Post Graduate Medical Institute has emerged as the symbol of national unity and harmony which provided equal opportunities for admission to the doctors belonging to all the four provinces along with Azad Kashmir and Gilgit Baltistan.
Doctors and teachers passed out from PGMI are providing health services both in medical and educational areas not only in Pakistan but also every nook and corner of the world, Prof Vohra maintained.
He said that 245 doctors serving in both public and private sectors had been awarded degrees and diplomas during current academic year.
The principal said that PGMI was offering 47 degree courses in 24 basic and clinical departments presently. He said that doctors from Nepal, Afghanistan and Iran were also getting admissions in PGMI. app.
