Lahore:October 18:UNIVERSITY of Health Sciences (UHS) Lahore and Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences (LUMHS) Jamshoro have signed an MoU to strengthen bonds between the two institutions to promote the cultural and scholarly interaction, exchange of students, teachers, scholars, and administrations for study and research, development of curricula and to start programmes for the capacity building.
The MoU was signed on Friday by UHS Vice Chancellor Maj Gen (Retd) Prof Muhammad Aslam and VC LUMHS Prof Dr Noshad Ahmed Shaikh.
Lahore and Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences Dean, Faculty of Community Medicine and Public Health Prof Dr Aneela Atta-ur-Rehman, Director Quality Enhancement Cell, Dr Muzaffar A. Shaikh, University of Health Sciences Pro-VC Prof Dr Junaid S. Khan and other senior faculty members were also present.
Under the agreement, both institutions will jointly develop a research quality in the field of epidemiology and public health besides exploring the opportunity to launch the special short-term academic programmes and projects for students. Exchange of examination questions is also part of the agreement.
Speaking on the occasion, UHS VC said every effort would be made to transform this Memorandum of Understanding into a “memorandum of action”.
The VC LUMHS called it a historic step which would go a long way in improving the standard of medical education and research in the county. He said collective efforts were always better than individual efforts and invited University of Health Sciences faculty to start a joint research project using the facilities available at Lahore and Liaquat University of Medical and Health Sciences.
