Education steering committee recommends reopening schools in different stages
Karachi:05 September:Sindh Education Minister Saeed Ghani chaired a meeting of the education steering committee to discuss the opening of educational institutions and standard operating procedures (SOPs) that must be adopted.

The minister said a meeting of all the provincial education ministers will be held on September 7 to decide on the opening of educational institutions.

He said the situation in the country is better in regards to Covid-19, adding that the education steering committee has not only finalised SOPs but made some recommendations.

According to the recommendations of the committee, instead of opening all the institutions together on September 15, it should be opened in different stages.

The committee recommended that class 9 and above should reopen from September 15, classes 6 to 8 from September 21 and pre-primary to class 5 from September 28.

If a school reopens before the said date, it will be against the law, the minister said, adding that if some schools ask for more time to implement better SOPs, it can be given.

Saeed Ghani said the decisions of the steering committee are not final. The final announcent will be made after the NCOC meeting on September 7.Express turbuni.
