Over 11,000 candidates to sit University of Karachi entry tests
Karachi:10 December:The entry tests for admissions for the upcoming academic year at the University of Karachi (KU) are to be held on Saturday and Sunday, with over 11,000 candidates set to appear in them.

Despite the closure of educational institutions due to the coronavirus pandemic, the Higher Education Commission (HEC), Islamabad, has permitted varsities to conduct entry tests.

According to KU Admission Committee director Dr Saima Akhtar, 40 test centres have been established for the tests and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to avoid the spread of Covid-19 would be strictly followed.

According to Dr Akhtar, the tests were held at 26 centres last year, with 60 students accommodated in each classroom. This time, however, she said only 30 students would be seated in each classroom.

She also stated that the candidates had been directed to follow the SOPs and bring their own water bottles, sanitisers and other items with them.

A total of 550 candidates will appear in the Masters' entry test on Saturday, while 10,500 are set to appear for the Bachelors test on Sunday.

The candidates for the undergraduate programmes are applying for admissions to a total of 2,000 seats in 19 departments of the university.
