Uniform educational system ‘a dire need

Islamabad:18 December:Federal Education Minister Shafqat Mehmood on Thursday said that uniformity in the educational system is a dire need of the times, adding that we must remain united to foil the plans of the country’s enemies. He said this while addressing a seminar titled ‘Hum Pakistani’.

The seminar had been organised by the Islamic Research Institute (IRI) at the Faisal Masjid campus of the International Islamic University Islamabad (IIUI) on Thursday. The education minister said that Pakistanis are proud of their armed forces who have always rendered the ultimate sacrifice for the protection of the motherland.

He added that Islamic scholars have a pivotal role to play in countering sectarianism and extremism in the country apart from building a society.

Shafqat also stressed the critical role ulema play in peacebuilding in light of the “Paigham e Pakistan”. The development of the uniform curriculum for all social classes, he said, is aimed at bringing unity amongst the society.

He added that Pakistan needs a strong and thriving research culture to compete with the world.

IIUI Rector Dr Masoom Yasinzai said that ulema are our main source of information to promote peace in society, adding that peace is only possible when we acknowledge differences of opinion with an attitude of openness and respect. He suggested that we must let everyone express their thoughts.

IIUI President Dr Hatal bin Hamood Alotaibi elaborated the role of IIUI in peace-building. He vowed that IIUI will be amongst the leading ranks for promoting peace and harmony.

IRI Director-General Dr Ziaul Haq spoke about the objectives and importance of the conference while also briefly mentioning future goals of the IRI and Paigham-e-Pakistan forum towards building an inclusive society. DNA.Express turbune.
