Faisalabad teachers find 'reasons' to protest from the Pakistan Model High School, Kutchery Bazaar

Faisalabad: A number of teachers on Wednesday staged a protest rally against non-acceptance of their demands.

Carrying banners and placards inscribed with slogans against the government, the protesters began their march from the Pakistan Model High School, Kutchery Bazaar, and reached the press club where they reiterated that the prime minister had promised time-scale facility for teachers in 2007 but no practical step had been taken to date.

"The government is extending the time-scale facility in Balochistan and Azad Kashmir, but a large number of teachers in Punjab have been denied the facility."

Similarly, they said, the government had been deducting amount from teachers' salaries in the name of group insurance, however, nothing had been paid to them in return.

They demanded that the government should extend maturity claims to the teachers in return. They also called for regularisation of the educators working on a contract for years.

Many teachers took it as an opportunity to protest against 'harsh attitude' of Jhang DCO Asad Islam with the teachers. They said the DCO humiliated the teachers even at public places and it was because of his attitude that the Jhang EDO for education had got himself transferred.

The teachers threatened that they would boycott the primary and middle examinations if the DCO was not transferred by the month-end.
