Veterinary and Animal Sciences, University of Northampton to ink  Memorandum of Understanding

LAHORE (APP): The University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Lahore (UVAS) and the University of Northampton, UK, at a meeting on Wednesday agreed to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for collaboration and launching joint degree programs and training courses in leather technology for the development of leather sector of Pakistan. Director of International Office Ms Delia Heneghan from the University of Northampton and UVAS Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr. Muhammad Nawaz discussed the areas of collaboration, sources of funding for their expected joint academic and training programs and agreed to sign an MoU in the first week of April at UVAS when the chancellor of the University of Northampton visits Pakistan. Later in the last week of April, a delegation of experts from the Northampton University will visit the UVAS to further work on the modalities of collaboration and then in June this year a team of experts/professors of the UVAS will visit the UK's collaborating university to finalise the joint venture, academic programs, curriculum, etc. The two universities also agreed to look for possibilities of developing collaboration in the area of livestock and dairy sectors. They will also exchange their faculty for training and further education. Delia Heneghan said that the UVAS was the right institution to work within leather sector. She said that the University of Northampton is willing to help Pakistan in promoting leather technology education and training and workforce/manpower development for leather sector. Dean Faculty of Veterinary Sciences Prof Dr Zafar Iqbal Chaudhry, Dean Faculty of Livestock Production and Technology Prof Dr Muhammad Abdullah and Dr Naveed Akhtar were also present in the meeting.
